Satan is at war with God. He attacks everything God stands for, everything God loves, everything that praises Him. Understand that simple truth. It is good versus evil, although probably more accurately stated as evil attacking good. Since satan is the “father of lies” (John 8:44), error is his best war tactic. US Senator Hiram Johnson is credited with the statement in 1918 “The first casualty when war comes is truth”, and that certainly applies to the war Satan wages with God. School leaders and teachers need to remember that we are in a battle, and we need to develop a keen sense of discernment to weed out error, and leave the truth intact.
2 Timothy 2:15 says: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” This passage seems to be written to teachers. It takes diligent hard work, being held accountable to God, of which you should not be ashamed; to study the scriptures and make sure you are dividing the word of Truth. That term “rightly dividing” is the same as “cutting it straight”, which is a construction term of making sure everything constructed is straight and lines up correctly with everything else, and has no errors in it. It takes hard work to line the Truth up, and to divide or separate out what is not biblical Truth.
Also notice that Christians should not be ashamed for standing for the Truth. So many times our Christian teachers take a lot of criticism and verbal abuse because they stand on God’s Truth, when the society around them says otherwise. How many have been ridiculed for standing firm on Creation, and not evolution? How many have been laughed at for teaching the evidence that the flood of Noah really happened. Christians don’t get their praise from this world or people in it, but from God, and obeying His Word.
Other errors Satan pushes as truth are:
-Adam was not a real man.
-Jesus was just a good teacher or prophet.
-The Bible is outdated and no longer valid for use today.
-People are intrinsically good.
-There is no hell.
-There are many ways to God.
-Truth is relative to the person and situation, and may be different.
-Science trumps the Bible.
-Money is the key to happiness.
-Satisfaction comes from what you acquire.
-It’s not your fault, you are a product of our society.
You are welcome to leave a comment that adds others to that list.
Sound Christian schools rightly divide truth from error and are not ashamed of standing firm on biblical Truth.
